Funeral directors incur costs for taking care of the details - newspaper advertisements, flowers, cremation arrangements etc. So the account you receive is really three accounts in one:

Our charge for our service
The casket
Charges for the arrangements we have paid for, such as advertisements etc.

Please ask for a written estimate.

We can advise on a range of assistance available for families requiring help with funeral costs. Assistance and advice can also be given on closing bank accounts and on application for funeral grants.

A funeral grant may be available from Work and Income New Zealand (WINZ) or the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC). Please talk with your funeral director to see if you may be entitled to a grant or for assistance with lodging an application.
