The funeral home was originally established by Mr Carr in the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Ninth Avenue, Tauranga in 1967. George Elliott and his son, Nelson purchased the building in 1970 and commenced operating from Rosebank Chapel as W & G Elliott & Son.
The current funeral home was originally constructed with only a small chapel until a major renovation programme took place in the early 1980s when the current chapel, catering facilities and offices were constructed. In their formative years, Elliotts chose to be distinctive by importing a white Chevrolet hearse, forming a tradition of white hearses, which has continued until the present day.
In 1982 Elliotts could see the need to provide a unique service to the community of Mount Maunganui and completed the renovation of premises - which currently operate as Tui Street Chapel. Elliotts commitment to the community saw them open an office and viewing lounge in Katikati in 1990 and since mid 2005 have been situated on the corner of Sheffield Street and Main Road.
